What makes people think that work or advice are free particuarly in the legal field? You would be amazed at how much this actually happens. I had a friend whose husband was an attorney. She said they stopped going to social functions as people would walk up to her husband and ask for legal advice. I can’t blame them because once he gave advice whether right or wrong they could be sued if it didn’t turn out the way the person wanted it to. As a paralegal you have no idea how many times I have to change a document. People often change their mind then claim they never said that and the work was wrong. I had one woman who did that to me and our attorney three times. At the fourth time I said there will be a charge. Amazingly she didn’t want the change. They never worked for free so why should Miss Patty and I work for free. I make home baked foods for people who help us. Often we don’t ask and if it is a service we expect to pay. My daughter’s mechanic loves my lasagna. He said he never had it taste so good. I learned from a woman in my neighborhood. She was very particular which is why I think my lasagna is so successful. I made it for him because he is always very fair in his pricing for mechanical repairs. I don’t do it expecting anything for free. How do you feel about expecting items or advice for free? In the Good Gus stories that was never an issue. Everyone helped each other out and did not expect anything in return. Now that school is ending in most areas, reading a book each day should be a priority for all children.
