The quality of schools over the years has changed dramatically. I saw an article today about a woman who grew up in Miami, Florida and she and her family are moving to Conneciticut. She said for herself she never thought she had an overall good education. Now that she has a family, she wants them to have a better education that she did. She has noticed a few variances. For one, the libraries in Connecticut are full of a diversity of books, whereas in Florida many of the shelves are empty. There is also a tremendous lack of guns within the Conneticut schools as opposed to Florida where now security is mandatory. Once you are exposed to different schools as a parent you can see the difference. My daughter has had to compare Louisiana schools to Texas schools. First of all, in her area, the schools are rated at 92% whereas Louisiana is at 82%. That is a significant difference. There are ratings in the United States and Louisiana is second to last where Mississippi is at the very bottom. How can our children move ahead and obtain a solid education? The teachers have solid training so I really don’t know the answer. Does it come down to the money contributed by the state for qualified teachers, decent pay, up to date textbooks or? I think alll children should receive the best possible education don’t you? I think the public school system should be on a par with private schools so that the quality of schools are equal.
