When you think of popuular music groups, which ones come to mind? Of course, everyone thinks of The Beatles first. They did have a huge number of hits. However, The Animals were number one on the charts for three weeks with “House of the Rising Sun.” I personally liked that tune. When I was young we weren’t really able to see popular groups in person. The first time The Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show we were all glued to our black and white TV’s. It was truly amazing for us. On Christmas Eve, I always bought a nice outfit and went to visit my cousin Theresa’s house. We listened to The Beatles’ records in her room. Her parents were great about it. I love The Beach Boys. I finally saw them as an adult in San Diego. I just stood in awe the entire time. I loved it. I actually still have a few of their record albums. Being young at that time we would go to a few of the kids homes and listen to records. We would dance and have a good time. One friend who moved into the neighborhood had a jukebox. His father bought it. It was great fun. Today everything practically revolves around technology, don’t you agree? Records and record players were available during the Good Gus era. They were invented in 1877.
