When many of us were younger we remembered a number of things. For example, I remember the penny candy store. It was around the corner and I could only go once in awhile. The drug store on the corner sold ice cream and it was originally only a few cents. It became a lot more difficult to purchase when it went up to a nickel. When I became older I started babysitting. I could watch TV shows and back then they had a sign off. At that time you hoped the parents would be home soon. By the time I had my drivers’ license, buying petrol/gas was easy because they always filled your tank and wiped your windshield. In high school I took business classes. They included bookkeeping, sewing, cooking, and typing. They had both manual and electric. The boys had shop. I really think those classes should exist today. I do believe that the manual typing was more difficult. Plus we used carbon paper to make duplicates. If you made a mistake you had to start over. The computer is easier today. My favorite item was the transister radio. It was convenient and you knew all the songs. Did you have a favorite? The items that existed in Good Gus were the penny candy and the typewriter.
