The Right Foods

Frequently, there are articles on the internet about the right foods and the items you should no longer eat.  As adults we have read repeatedly and seen articles about fast foods, the wrong foods to eat, etc.  Yet, if anyone followed these suggestions, there would be a number of businesses no longer selling these products.  Take hot dogs for example.  If you do not buy organic you are filling your stomach with all sorts of preservatives, sodium nitrate and that pink slime we have all heard about.  They take whatever is left from the pig, grind it up, add spices and coloring and there you go! I frankly find the fast food commercials appalling. The meals or food items do not even look appealing.  Of course, the right foods are always trying to eat as much organic as possible.  The obvious choices are fresh fruits and vegetables every day.  Many of the schools offer mac and cheese.  It is high in fat and basically sugars.  It’s a miracle the students do not fall asleep after lunch.  Children that bring their lunch are often bullied calling them poor. The truth is that homemade lunches are the right foods as they are fresh and if they have allergies they are protected.  The old ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’ is still a good idea.  So as you think about making dinner tonight, don’t reach for the fast food menus, but see what is in your pantry or cabinets and look up a recipe to try.  It cannot hurt.  The right foods were never a problem in the Good Gus series as it was farm fresh. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
