Both yesterday and today I have seen two articles about American tourists complaining about visiting Europe. It is clear from the writings that they expect everything to be not only how it is in the states but above and beyond. The countries are different which is why you visit them. This is the first time I have heard so many complaints. When a person is about to embark on a trip the smart move is to do research. Decide where you are going, what are the pluses and minuses, transportation, weather conditions, and payments. One article was about a woman complaining she had to fly to one section of Italy, then take a train and wait in ninety degree or fifty Celsius temperatures. She then took a ferry. My thought was why didn’t you verify everything before you left. She wanted to visit the Amalfi Coast which is beautiful. There were people complaining about France as well. One person complained on Tik Toc that everywhere he went in Paris where was an ugly smell. They had riots previously to his visit and possibly he should have thought twice about visiting Paris. Many people complained about the lack of air conditioning. Of course, social media is promoting various locations. Then, the tourists expect everything to be perfect. No holiday is ever perfect. I once went to Italy with my son and his now wife. We had a nice time but I was sick off and on. When I returned home to Ireland I had developed pneumonia. Did I blame Italy, no! I am Irish and we have genetically weak lungs from the use of peat by our ancestors. I have never smoked but it just is part of my heritage. I pay attention to it, though. If you are thinking about a trip to Europe, please check everything out. Most areas have trains and buses that are nicely upholstered. Also remember that there is a small cost to use a restroom. One of the Tik Tockers was complaining that there were no vegetables. Truthfully, the vegetables in Europe are lovely. They are fresh and taste excellent. So, in the future if you are thinking about a holiday in Europe, do your research, check the weather during your desired time, and then good luck. Do you think all of the Tik Tockers and possibly Twitter posts were just hype? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
