Conditions

Have you ever noticed that when you agree to something even if it is not business there are always conditions? For example, you may ask a relative to give you assistance with a chore at home,  a ride, or even help you solve a problem. Whatever it may be, as small and insignificant as it might be, there are always conditions.  No one will do anything for free or without receiving something in return.  It is sad. Let me give you an idea.  Your car may have a flat and you need assistance changing the tire. You do not belong to an auto service club.  You call upon a friend for assistance. They agree but only if you do something in return. It could be to pay for their petrol, bake them a dinner or a pastry, babysit their child, or do an errand. It could be almost anything. The idea of making sure that a person is always reimbursed it a little ridiculous.  Doing something for free should be part of just being  a kind decent person. I do, however, if a person does help me and does not ask for anything, bake something.  I have made banana bread, apple muffins, chicken pot pie, blueberry muffins and a few more treats.  The pot pie was in a small disposal pan and was greatly appreciated.  I made it for a neighbor who helped my daughter and me when her truck broke down. It is not easy to find unskilled labor to assist in a home with two widows. We are learning to do a variety of household handiwork but we do not have the powerful muscles to complete some tasks. If my daughter wants any conditions, which she doesn’t ask,  I usually will make her favorte foods, brownies or even chocolate chp muffins anyways. The next time you might need help, see what the conditions are before you even consider asking. You may even already know. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
