Unconventional Cooking Method

I saw an article today that is taking the internet by storm namely an unconventional cooking method. Why this is a new name for a style of cooking many of us have used for years I do not understand.  This new method combines ingredients that normally don’t go together along with using whatever you have in your refrigerator or on your shelves in your panty. I cannot believe that they believe this is new.  Anyone who has cooked as long as I have know that this is a way of life.  I first started to learn how to cook when I was three years old.  Each day I would cook with my grandmother on a gas stove powered by propane.  It was a really an old fashioned stove. In today’s world many items are produced to make our lives easier.  For example, herbs are now combined such as Itaian Seasoning, Herbs de Provence, and Poultry Seasonsing just to name a few.  Previously, we would combine various herbs to make the prepared seasonings.  I will say it is much more convenient to have it ready to go so that you simply unscrew the cap and shake. To me it is not that difficult to combine ingredients to make a decent meal.  One of the important factors about using ingredients that you already have is that you save money and can make a nice home cooked meal. Anyone who cooks keeps many food items in stock.  It makes the new unconventional cooking method easy. For example, tonight I am going to make tomato soup.  All I need is tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, chopped onion, chicken broth and a carrot. I also freeze leftovers as they can be utilized in a variety of ways.  For example, leftover chicken or turkey can become a pot pie or if you have a few mushrooms with the leftover poultry you can make a nice white sauce, cook the mushrooms and then warm it all in the over.  It’s a tasty dish. How do you feel about this new unconventional cooking method? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
