Vague Expressions

Using vague expressions is a common practise wherever you live. The one that everyone hates, particuarlary if they were just on a date, is “I’ll call you.” Of course, nine out of ten times they do not ring.  It’s just a few words that sound positive but really mean nothing.  The number of women who have heard those words is astronomical.  They can also tell you that the majority of the time the man or even boy never calls.  It’s just words to end the evening without really saying anything.  This is true when you go on a job interview.  They usually end with the phrase, “We will call you.” Again, they never do.  If you hear those words you know to apply for more jobs because you are not getting the one you just interviewed for.  I don’t like the words as I think people should keep their word.  The fact that they don’t the majority of the time is basically cruel.  How many videos on Facebbook have used that phrase only to see the female sad and crying and wondering what she did wrong.  It’s not her it is just the way many of the average men speak.  There are new vague expressions now such as, “I will be in touch,” “I will be back to you,” or “This was great.  or will talk to you soon.” Sadly, it just doesn’t matter as they don’t.  If it is a date, they should just tell the truth and let the person know rather tthan keep them wondering.  This is also applicable to job applicants.  When I worked with my late husband in contract engineering, I always told the applicant the truth.  If they didn’t have a chance I told them right up front.  That way they could apply at other companies.  I once placed a man who had applied to a large engineering firm.  He was never even considered.  Yet, miraculously, when I submitted his CV/Resume, he was hired permanently.  I think he was originally rejected due to his age. However, I reworte his CV/Resume highlighting his superior experience and the manager hired him bypassing human resources.  How do you feel about vague expressions?
