Today I heard a former football player who is an intern on “The Good Doctor” say that as he was having trouble coping with blood. He said, “Quitters never win.” It is a true statement, though. He could not stand the site of blood and would either leave the room or go to the side and vomit. He didn’t want to give up. When anyone is confronted with a difficult task, it is better to follow through than just give up. Giving up is an easy way out. However, the problem will still exist so the only solution is to face it and find a way to solve it. The only time quitting works is if a person has an addiction. Then quitting does lead to success. In the workplace, often people find a way around a task, project or possibly working with a difficult co-worker. The quitters just move on to something else. The smart people solve the issue which often leads to promotions. If a person quits a job, they may have difficulty finding a new one. Their references will be poor and it will not be easy to replace their income. Freelance work might be a possibility. When people leave without notice their reputation follows them. This can also occur even if a person does give notice but the company, manager, supervisor or someone in the company feels that the ending of the job was not right for the company. It’s not just about work, though. It is also about any and all other taks, events, and issues in life. If we don’t follow through we end up as losers and failures. No matter what we do in life it is important to complete whatever the event may be so that we are a success, don’t you agree? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
