False memories first began in the 1980’s. A group of preschollers were coached into remembering false memories from Satanic abuse. Of course, it became public with a great many issues. The so called well meaning social workers along with the situation became known around the states as the “Satanic Panic.” It hurt innocent families. All of the false memories children were found to be completely unknowing due to their age. This was supposedly about stopping child abuse but in reality it was wrong and abusive. It is actually a common phenomnen. People often actually have false memories that were from past experiences that ended inside their brains in a complete disarray. Years ago accusations flew about various abuses that did not exist. Unfortunately, the children who were beaten, starved, and abused in other various ways were completely ignored. Why? If I was to guess I would say that somehow money was involved. Almost everything comes down to money. The implanting of false memories in adults has also been written about. The human memory is easy to manipulate. For example, witnessess to a crime. Each person does not remember the same thing. They may start out as remembing but then they might receive unsolicited suggestions which would change their memories. Once false memories are implanted into a person’s brain it can affect their decision making abilities. For example, they may believe rumors written by the media regarding politicians. They might be false yet the person will believe that they are true and retain that data. Then when the time comes to vote all they can remember are the fake stories which have given them false memories. Often people believe something happend when in real life it did not. Another problem is individuals who end up confessing to a crime they did not commit. Many of the TV shows have themes where the police believe a person is guilty and basically badger them, starve them, make them sleep deprived until they confess. Even though they have no knowledge, they simply give up. Then, of course, the attornies step in to fight the fake confessions and false memories. Do you have false memories or know someone who does?
