Ready Made Entertainment

Today with all the technology ready made entertainment is at our fingertips. It sounds crazy but it is true. In an old “Leave it to Beaver” the dad, Ward, had a chance to go to a cabin for a weekend. He was excited to tell the boys. All they were interested in was going to the closing show of some movie with alligators. The dad insisted as they needed the fresh air and outdoors.  He felt that between their comic books and the movies they already had too much ready made entertainment. So right after dinner they left for the cabin. The following morning they went fishing and at first their luck wasn’t so great. Then they were told by the caretaker of the pond to try another section. They easily caught six fish and were elated. However, when they were ready to leave the caretaker told them that would be six dollars or six dollars and forty-eight cents in Euros. The boys and Ward both said no thank you. Apparently, the pond was stocked so if people caught fish they had to pay. Seriously, it would have been cheaper at the grocery. Ward thought he might as well give up. He went to find them to eat dinner before they were about to leave. The boys were using his binoculars watching that movie that wanted which was at a drive-in over a hill. When Ward said he wanted to leave, they said no. Apparently, even in the woods back then you could find ready made entertainment. Today, though, there are games, shows, movies on phones and TV’s. Kids have all the ready made entertainment they want. In the “Big Bang Therory,” even though they had all the technology, they still liked to read comic books. I suppose at least they were still reading. Technology does require reading but at the rate AI is going that may go out of date as well. What do you think?
