Lack of Parental Assistance

I saw an article today by a teacher in which she pointed out the difference between children today in school regardles which generation she taught. Many parent complained that their children could not read. Now many of them are well blow aveage in reading. There are also many students who fail. The lack of parental assistance is keeping students from making the correct progress currently in reading and math. I think part of the problem is that when the children are with alternate parents, one or the other doesn’t give the extra teaching they need to pass each course. Of course, another factor is too much electronics. Playing too many video games does nothing to enhance their education or brains. She retired for ten years and then returned. The attention span is even shorter than it was previously. One of the worst parts of this whlole problem is that the parents see the failing grades and do nothing to improve them. They are just as much as fault as are their children.I never had a failing grade, but if I did I would have been severly punished. No playing outside or TV just for starters. Education is truly important yet the lack of parental assistance just doesn’t seem to matter. The teacher also wrote that she thought the students felt entitled. I am not sure about that. What do you think? I wrote my first Good Gus book in 2008. I thought it would be an ideal choice for young children to focus on reading. It is available in e-book  online for your child’s enjoyment.
