There are many workforce areas that are now dying jobs. I just wrote about self checkouts yesterday for one. There are more. Many banks have automatic machines instead of several bank tellers. Transcription in court and other official capacities are now recorded and there is no longer a person taking notes. Once finished they are often using speech to text software. It is not working as well as they hope, but it won’t be long before they perfect it. This also includes the in person translators. Technology is causing dying jobs on a frequent basis. Real estate could be next. There are various programs that are utilized online to look at homes and ways to view them without a realtor. I am wondering when they will just use robots. I saw an article the other day showing a robot walking through a mall on the strip in Las Vegas. It was strange. AI is being used to take over many types of jobs and careers. It is not always successful yet and in fact I saw an article about some workers complaing about its mistakes. I sadly think that the dying jobs for design of products, homes, commercials, courses, etc. are just a few of the areas that will disappear. I will tell you I absolutely hate AI customer service. It took me over two hours to obtain an answer from a company that does not list their phone number. Most people appreciate customer service more than the companies realize. However it is all about the money. If you take a look at trains, they practically drive themselves now. If you were a locomotive driver, how do you find work now? The legal field is embracing AI. That is one area that truly needs a human touch. However, it is becoming part of the dying jobs now. How do you feel about dying jobs and are you affected?
