Invasion of Privacy

I saw an article today about a young woman who is moving out from her roommate due to an invasion of privacy. Everyone seems so nosey today. Why couldn’t the roommate mind her own business? The roommate that is moving said in the article that she no longer felt safe. I frankly agree with her. People have no respect for others and therefore, think nothing of an invasion of their privacy. I doubt that they would agree if the situation were reversed. There are so many individuals who cannot keep things under control and cannot curb their curiosity it  is appalling. Sure you think to yourself it is none of my bisiness then why do it? Have a little restraint. When I was young,  all the neighbors watched us and told on us. In some areas they even disciplined kids when they felt it was necessary. This actually included hitting.  Obviously, I didn’t like it then and I still disagree today. I was never a candidate but many boys were. There were also ethnic neighborhoods that the older women sat by the window everyday and kept tabs on everthing that was going on. This was quite handy to various groups. If I was hanging out with some boys, not doing anything, I was tattled on and subsequently punished. Eventually we learned to stay clear of the people who told on us. I personally resented it as I did consider it an invasion of privacy. Nothing was going on or happening yet they always made it sound like it did! Was that a part of your life? In the Good Gus series everyone paid attention to everything. However, they all looked after each other and helped out whenever needed. I hope you will think about a book either e-book or hardcopy for the children in your life. You will be glad you did.
