Why is shaming so popular? It is always on social media in both obvious and subtle ways. Today there was an article about a woman breast-feeding her child in her own home. Her mother-in-law was shaming her when she lost it and flashed her. I would hated to be in that house as the comotion would have upset the family. What many people do, particularly in the reels on Facebook, is shame both men and women. They look at them and tell them their clothes look like they are poor, second hand, or thrift shop quality. There is always a group starting in elementary school who make it a habit of shaming other students. I was shamed, even though I lived in a single family home, because I did wear second hand clothes in elementary. It wasn’t until late elementary school when I began earning money from babysitting that I began buying my own clothes. Today, though, kids are criticized, called poor, among other names by the ‘in groups.’ It is wrong on so many levels. In high school, now, both boys and girls are shamed for their weight. Some people actually have a thyroid problem which does cause weight gain. Many girls became anorexic because they thought they should like the models in magazines. There was an episode in “Full House” when DJ began starving herself. Her sister tattled and the whole family made her stop. Shaming is wrong in every way which is why it is not in the Good Gus series, don’t you agree?
