Gaslighting is the newest term for people. I originally thought it meant you no longer spoke to a person, but that was wrong. The way the definition was described today it was more like people not agreeing and disliking a person and letting them know in person. Often one person accuses another of chicanery . They feel they are overreacting. How many husbands, wives or partners have accused each other of that very act? The accuser makes the other person feel upset, possibly ashamed or even guilty. I just don’t believe that is gaslighting. One of my favorites with my late husband was that I was imagining things. Absolutely not. It was and is ridiculous. How many people feel that way? On many of the Facebook videos a person is rude, nasty and accusatory. Then when caught by their boss they say, “I was just joking.” No they weren’t. They often include when caught that the person they were attacking is just making it all up when they defend themselves. They also say that the defendant is a liar. Another one of my favorites is, “No one else would put up with you.” How often have you heard that? I see it on the Facebook videos all the time. The only good part about those videos is that another man steps in and generally states that he would. I love the phrases, “It’s all about you, and you are so dramatic.” Those are two phrases that men use on women frequently. I hardly believe that that is gaslighting either, what do you think? None of this behavior exists in the Good Gus series.
