I read today that Robin Williams had a clause in his contracts that in all movies homeless people had to be hired. Over the course of his career, he helped one thousand five hundred twenty people. We all do our best, but he took his status and insisted that the homeless be hired. It was not well known which just showed he was a kind person who did not need reocgnition because he was helping the homeless. Kindness is a simple gesture that everyone should utilize. Years ago when my late husband was transferred to Dallas we ived in a small town, at that time, of Carrollton. Today it is a huge city. At that time listening to the radio and watching the news was the life then. There was on the news a family that moved to Texas thinking the husband had a job and it turned out to be false. A disc jockey found out about them and advertised on the radio if someone could help them with a home to get back on their feet. It was a couple with a baby and the wife’s younger brother. The family found a home but there was no room for the brother. He came to live with us. At that time my late husband had a collection for kids to go to camp. He paid the homeless boy a small fee to work everyday to help his family. By the end of the summer, the husband had a job and they were able to rent an apartment for the four of them. That was the way my late husband was. We often helped people he came accross that needed food, help in landing a job, and a place to stay. My daughter and I still do today. There are people who quietly help others and do not wish to be recognized. Do you know anyyone like that? In the Good Gus series, Liam was homeless in the Christmas book “The Special Gift.” Sheriff Gus rescused him and in the end there was a happy ending.
