Recently, we had two rescue cats disappear. A neighbor told us it was probably a mountain lion. He said the animal had attacked his calf. He has a cattle ranch across the street. We also noticed a wild hog that was dead in the road when we went up the street to drop off a relative’s kitten for neutering. It wasnt that far and when we returned the huge animal was gone. We were shocked. Since then we have been very careful but we are fairly certain it has moved on. There was an article today in the news about a mountain lion in a Las Vegas neighborhood. Las Vegas has many homes on lots that are not huge so I find it very strange. The owner was concerned and yet was surprised that it was on his property as he is fairly close to the freeway. It settled down, taak a nap and then jumped his fence and moved on to a new neighborhood. Can you image if some young children were camping and the parents completely assured that they were safe only to have a mountain lion as a visitor. The man alerted all of his neighbors so that if they had pets or kids outside to bring them in and keep a watchful eye. The Nevada Department of Wildlife advised everyone to install motion detectors. I think it is a good idea, do you? In book 27, “Toby Saves the Day,” a rabbid coyote strolled into town. Toby, who was a baby elephant, had been rescued by Judge Ross. He was a sweet animal, but he knew the coyote was danger. It is an exiting book as are most of the books in the series.
