Animal Abuse

If you thought animal abuse was a thing of the past you were wrong.  Just today on the internet a dog that was in a shelter for nine hundred days was finally adopted only to be returned within tweyty-four hours.  The shelter is claiming it is a good dog, friendly and energetic.  Why choose a dog only to give it back so quickly?  Anyone who thinks like that is just not a person who should adopt a dog. In my life I have seen dogs chained up in the heat and the cold.  I have seen huskies chained in the heat and literally suffering with a lack of water and obviously from the heat. My daughter, as anyone who reads my blogs knows, has rescued and rehomed dogs in the past. One time a woman came over to help her clean as she was moving.  The woman brought her dog both times only the second time she abandoned the dog.  He was a good dog by the name of Duke. She ended up giving him to an older woman about one hundred fifty miles away.  The woman is still happy with him today.  At one point she had three dogs; a father, son and then her original rescuse dog, Bonnie. Once the son became one year old he wanted to be the alpha male.  This did not go well.  A couple came from about an hour away who owned thirty-five acres and had their children and grandchildren living on their property.  They adopted the dog. They are still very happy with him. Last week we assisted a friend of hers who had to go out of town for work for a month. He is divorced and his ex still lives on a home on his property.  She left to go to Georgia with her boyfriend.  This meant that two dogs and a cat were basically abandonded.  My daughter went over for her friend and fed all three consistently. I even sent some of the meat I had cooked for her dogs.  Those pets were in heaven.  What I cannot understand is how can you leave animals that are dependent upon you starving and without water.  This is clearly animal abuse, don’t you agree?
