Rumors

Once again the rumors are flying about Kate Middleton.  Why they cannot leave her alone is beyond me.  I have always hated rumors and gossip.  It always is wrong and hurtful of others.  Frequently, it begins in school. Depending upon the country, it might be junior high, middle school or still part of elementary.  A person who whishes to be popular, mostly girls, quickly learn that they can be number one of their class if they destroy other students with rumors.  It is really similar to bullying.  The celebrities have a continual battle with rumors.  Often it ruins their marriage, relationships, hurts their families including children and even their parents.  For what you make ask.  For money for the gossip magazines and the paparazzi.  They are the ones who are making the large profits.  I have no idea where the gossip magazines are sold any more.  They were always at the checkout in Ireland.  None of it matters or is even real. The worst part is that the rumors spread even in adult life.  It is terrible in the workplace.  Once a person, whom again, wishes to be number one, decides to spread the lies, it always turns into a mess.  I alway kept to myself at work. I remember one time I was working at a large manufacturing plant.  I was the secretary to a project manager while I was attending night school. I had a Secret clearance as did many of the other individuals working there.  One day, as I was quietly sitting in the cafeteria by myself, I heard a couple of men gossiping and spreading rumors.  At that time divorce was not as prevelant as it is today.  They were talking about this one woman who they were claiming that she was an easy romantic mark. I was appauled. It reminded me of the movie, “Notting Hill,” with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Once the paparazzi tracked her down, there was no stopping them and the rumors flew fast and furiously.
