Cost of Living

Over the past few years the cost of living has increased dramatically. People moved out of the big cities and worked remotely due to COVID. Now, things are changing as the big cities are the locations for jobs. Their cost of living may have temporarily dropped but now the business world is reversing. Many companies are requiring people to return to work in person on a daily basis. If an individual moved too far away, they may end up losing their job or having to return to the city.  It might be their only hope and to just face the high cost of living simply to have an income. It’s not only employment that has been affected, it’s our everyday lives that have changed. Items that were once at a lower price have now increased. For example, plastic hangers at Walmart were once below one dollar or one Euro six cents. They have increased between twenty and forty percent. It doesn’t sound like much but when you look at all the other items we purchase at the grocery it is significant.  The cost of clothing has risen dramatically as well. Look at repairs to either your home or vehicle.  The increases due to inflation are significant.  Even the price of petrol or gas has increased depending upon where you live between sixty and over one hundred percent. The large corporations are literally making millions while we continue to pay at the pump. Also depending upon where you live the price of homes has been dropping.  In certain countries, and particularly Ireland, the prices are increasing. Their population has been increasing over fifteen hundred every year for the past eight years. It doesn’t sound like very much but the new residents were all from America. California’s population has continued to decline but not the price of homes.  The cost of living there is outrageous. I just saw an article that stated if you wished to move there you would need one million dollars or one million sixty thousand Euros. The government claims they are working on inflation but since it is occuring around the world, I am not sure that whatever they do will work. What do you think?
