Do you find joy in your everyday life? I don’t think many people do given the fact that there is constantly negativity on the news, the internet, articles on Facebook and various other loations. The old saying, “Stop and smell the roses,” is still appliable today yet a large number of people literally around the world do not. For example, when I walked out to my mailbox there was one white flower that was quite lovely. Now, due to all the rain, there are about ten. Putting a hummingbird feeder on your porch, patio, or even one hanging from a tree can bring joy not only to the birds but you as well. You will see them frequently flapping near the feeder and drinking. I think it is nice. In the front area of my home there now is a lovely orange butterfly that is enjoying the flowers. With all the negativity in the world, trying to find any joy is next to impossible.  We just really have to look and pay attention. I love family events as they always bring me joy. Of course, there are the families who start trouble and turn what could be a lovely day into a disaster. I saw an article on Facebook about two sisters who discovered by accident that their parents were not whom they said they were. The girls decided to take a DNA test and much to their surprise they were not related to their family. This obviously led to a huge mess with a great deal of explaining. Families do tend to hide things from other members. Often it is better to tell the truth at an appropriate age so that family members can adjust. Being adopted can be a huge shock to a child. They immediately feel unwanted as their parents gave them up. There are so many reasons that it is a difficult process to go through. The only thing the adoptive parents can do is try to be honest and bring as much joy as they can into their child’s life and remind them of all the good times and that they were chosen by them.
