Overworked

There is a new divide between the overwoked and the individuals who barely work at all.  People believe because they work at home that they can slack off. As someone who has worked for forty-three years at home this month, I can easily tell you the answer is no. People who work at home are often better organized, manage their time better and in general accomplish three times as much. Of course, my desk is always a mess but it has been that way since the beginning. The sad part is that many people who do go into work end up being overworked. Simply because they are there the projects are given to them. Many managers believe that if a person is sitting at a desk and doesn’t look busy enough that they need more to do. I actually dislike intensely being under pressure to finish work too quickly. The intersting thing is that being overworked does not apply to doing  paperwork or office duties. Restaurants can become overwhelmed. The staff may not even be able to keep up if there is a sudden rush. In almost any industry, being overworked is possible. In the movies “The Intern” and “The Devil Wears Prada,” Anne Hathaway was always overwhelmed with duties, chores, paperwork, and tasks. The thing about both movies is that she truly recongnized it. In “The Devil Wears Prada” once she figured it out she quit. She found her life was much happier. In “The Intern” she discovered that by working too much her husband was having an affair. In the end, they both decided to make changes in their lives and be happy again. We all seem to be adjusted to working too much. Don’t you think it is time we put it all in perspective?
