Polite

In these times, why have people stopped being polite?  In some instances they are, but in general not really. When I was waiting for my daughter the other day at the grocery. I had gone to the produce section while she was shopping in other sections. Her father had worked in a grocery when he was a teen, so he was always choosey about produce and as I result so am I. I gathered a few items and then waited before the check out section for her. A lovely lady walked by me and asked me if I needed her trolley. It was so nice but I told her I was waiting for my daughter and thanked her. How often are people actually be polite with no reason? In the grocery, particuarly if we go to the one near a large college, the kids are barely nice. I don’t care as I go about my business. This is also true when a person has one item and you have several. Letting them go ahead is the polite thing to do yet frequently people simply don’t. With newer technology, going to the bank is rarely necessary now. However, I can recount several times when people needed to show not only patience but consideration. They often cut in line, made demands and spoke harshly. Even when we meet people for the first time, I think they size us up to see if we are worth knowing and how we should be treated.  Every single day on Facebook there are videos about power hungry managers who treat their underlings extremely poorly.  There is no need for it yet they do it anyways.  It takes literally no effort, cost, expense or time to be polite don’t you agree?
