Word

When people say, “I give you my word,” do you believe them?  Most people don’t mean it when they say it. Yet there are individuals who do keep their word. In all the movies, TV shows, reels and short videos on Facebook, the criminals always say “I give you my word.” How can you believe them? Years ago in business there were periods of recession, low sales and other financial difficulties when my late husband and I were in business. However, I never actually said that I gave my word but I did promise to pay and always did. Often it ook time, but the vendors always knew that I kept my word and eventually paid them off. The trouble with the world today is that many people spout the words but they mean nothing. I know a con man who cheats everyone. His latest is a hotel in  Dallas County, Texas where he cheated them out of two thousand dollars. . How he did this I will never understand, but he did. Those compaies are always so careful and demanding. I am sure he promised, gave his word, etc. only to have him sneak out during the night and leave them with a substantial bill. That was part of the problem years ago with many individuals. They might skip out on their rent and quietly sneak out without the owner being aware.  Giving your word is not a license to cheat and steal by fooling people. How often have you heard over the years these words, “but I promise.” In reality its just a ruse to lie, cheat and/or steal, don’t you agree?
