Have you ever wondered why stories are so important? There are so many reasons. From the time we are born, our family which could be parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc. all read to us. We learn our vocabulary early on from having books read to us. It also begins our early imagination. The importance of stories cannot be under exaggerated. They bring situations and events to life. They teach us right from wrong. They continue to expand our vocabulary and obviously, our imaginations. I have watched several movies about book shops. There is one in particular entitled “Mr. Fiction” which includes a story time for children. The woman dressed in various outfits that were applicable to the stories. Whenever I have read the Good Gus series I always appeared in cowgirl clothes, boots and a white hat like Gus. All the children love it. Sometimes I think it stimulates their minds even more as they conncect to the stories. As we mature stories offer us an escape from the real world. They also take us away to other lands so that even if we never travel to those counties, we learn about them and appreciate the scenery and atmosphere. On Rachel Ray’s shows she always states that with a little bit of money, cooking can take you away to a new adventure. As everyone knows, who have read my blogs, I love reading. It’s brightened my life and the lives of many children over the years. I hope you will consider a Good Gus book as a gift for a child that you love.
