Silence

“Silence is golden” is an old saying. However, it doesn’t work at all today. Most people do not know the meaning of being silent. When you see videos on Facebook, they have a variety that use silence almost as a weapon or a tool. In a number of the videos individuals are not allowed to speak or give their opinions particuarly women.  We were taught at an early age to speak when spoken to and not go crazy in  over talking. There were times when we were allowed to speak about a positive day, homework, a bully at school, etc. I know some families who expect slience at the dinner table when they all eat together. I think speaking and conversation are a two way street. I annoyed my doctor last week because I don’t want to take a  medication. He finally told me to stop talking. I then asked him if his wife spoke to him like that and he just laughed. He is in the medical profession. I have been a nutritionist for many years and still am, in spite of also being a paralegal. I constantly look for information on foods, pesticides, growth issues of fruits and vegetables, etc. As anyone who has read my blog knows, when I discover data I always pass it along. I  never keep quiet about it. Silence is important because often there are individuals who just do not listen. They appear to hear you but then when they speak it is as if they heard nothing. Silence is always applicable in school, churches, meetings, and real true communication, don’t you agree? The Hallmark channels are officially in Christmas season. While I love the holiday, I just think it is a little early. We don’t even decorate until November first in Ireland. Then, of course, there is something new every week along with a variety of shows, parades, and specialty events. I hope you will consider a Good Gus book or “The Special Gift” as a holiday present for a child in your life or as a donation to a sick child in a hospital.
