Dull and Boring

Is your daily life dull and boring? Many people say that every day. They also say they are looking for excitement. People say they wish they could live on a tropical island or go back in time and live in the old west. I understand that today there are so many demands on all of us. So much more is expected of everyone every day. Even in school, there is much more homework than when I was young. Then do you wonder, if they had the chance would they do it? Would they move to a tropical island or would they miss all the modern conveniences? Would they go back in time to the old west to a simpler time without electronics, and many of the conveniences we take for granted? When I hear people say that I ignore them. Most people don’t like change. They want everything to stay the same but with added on bonuses. Sadly, unless you are a famous person or a celebrity, its nearly impossible.  Many times we are so busy we don’t have any time to think if our lives are dull and boring.  Occasionally, our children tell us we need to lead more interesting lives.  Seriously, how can we?  We are too busy driving them to games, hosting scout meetings, working and maintaining a home in between.  Even in the old west in the Good Gus Series, Sheriff Gus’s every day life was dull and boring.  He looked after the town’s people and the surrounding farms and ranch families, with the remainder of his time he was the Sheriff of a quiet town.  This does not fit into today’s blog, but I was deeply saddened to read about the girl who committed suicide because she was told she didn’t deserve to live.  I think the children who said that to her and bullied her need to spend a little time in the old west.  They would find there was no time to be mean as they had no electronics and lots of work to help their families survive.  I hope when you think about people and kindness you will choose a book from the Good Gus Series.
