Rowing

Every year in Germany, the Catholics celebrate Corpus Christi Lake. What is interesting is that they all use row boats. Many of the individuals rowing were older adults particularly women. When I was a young teen, about thirteen years old, I went on holiday with my grandparents and one of their adult children with their family. We rented a cabin with a lake around it with a tiny island in the middle. What was interesting was that my grandfather, who was eighty at the time, rowed my grandmother around the entire lake. Not only was it a romantic gester but it showed how strong he still was. For many years rowing was popular. People didn’t actualy row on a lake, but they did use the machines for rowing at gyms or bought one for home use. You do have to be extremely strong to row. It also builds up your upper arms and chest. The paddles are heavy which is why you need strength. Very rarely do you see anyone rowing today either on a lake, river or the ocean. Harvard University still has rowing championships. Often on nice sunny days you can see the rowing team go up and down the river. I like the fact that something from long ago is still a sport at a top university today, don’t you? In the Good Gus series, as it was set in Pecos, Texas, there were no lakes or rivers close by so there was no rowing. Pecos River is outside of town though. The books have intresting story lines and are readily available in paperback and ebook form. “Misplaced Trust” has absolutely nothing to do with rowing or water. You wil enjoy reading it.
