Without realizing it, people who might be in an argument or disagreement end up setting limits. This is about putting a stop to something during a difficult time. For example, parents are continually drawing the line with their children, particularly teenagers. As a parent, we all know that teens push us to the limits. Then we end up grounding them, taking away their electronics and making them miss events they may have hoped to attend. I saw a video in which the mother very definitely set limits and took her son’s phone away. When she returned home, the entire house was destroyed. He lost his temper and went too far. She was crying, but what does she do now for punishment? I think not only should the phone continue to be banned but that he should clean up the mess and then earn the money for the repairs within the home. In an episode of “The Brady Bunch” Greg was grounded for taking the car without permission. He really tried to bluff his way out of his predicament but his dad was firm. Children need to know limits and understand right from wrong. In life, now, the adults who had only a few limits believe they can say and do anything to anyone, anywhere, any time. All these people who push others around, the new term Karens of the world, need to be taught a strong lesson. It all goes back to having a conscious I think. Anyone who feels they are exempt from the rules of polite society need to go back to school and take an etiquette class. Actually, given the way the world is today, it would be an excellent class for all school levels so that children learn at an early age in case their parents lack these skills. In the Good Gus series, there were more than one occasion when Sheriff Gus had to set limits. “Misplaced Trust” is a book you need to read to better understand the importance of protecting your assets for your heirs.
