Christmas Eve

the special gift

Today is Christmas Eve in many parts of the world.  People are making their way to family and friends to celebrate tonight and tomorrow.  Many families have traditions.  For example, the Irish always (at least in my family), have Irish bread as part of the meal either tonight or tomorrow.  The Italians always include their own traditional foods as I am sure other nationalities do as well.  My late girlfriend’s father always made Swedish Meatballs because of his nationality.  What really matters is that we all enjoy our traditions or start new ones.  Gus of the series received his twenty-ninth ornament this year.  His father said it was enough to fill their entire tree.  When we cannot be with relatives it is also nice to reminisce about Christmas Eve’s from the past. Another traditional food I usually make is called ‘Grandpa’s Dessert.’ I originally started making it for my now late father-in-law and it became the old standby.  It is a chocolate type brownie or cake with a chocolate sauce, all homemade. Gus’s father today remembered how delicious it really was.  He lives in Europe so we spoke today. One of the reasons I wrote “The Special Gift”  was  I hoping it would be a new Christmas Eve tradition for families.  When I originally wrote it I had an internet radio show that aired every Sunday.  This was several years ago before COVID.  It was very popular and children up to the age of twelve loved that book. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones. Hard copies, personally autographed, are available through our website www.goodgusbooks.com along with past blogs for your reading enjoyment. Digitizing for all the books are available now! Please consider adding “The Special Gift” as a new Christmas tradition. Books one and two are now available along with “The Special Gift” on the Tractor Supply website.
