Old School

Many individuals believe two things about old school methods.  One they are out of date and two the old system still has great value.  Just because we have high tech doesn’t mean old school ideas, methods and systems are no longer of  value.  The truth is we wouldn’t have all the new technology without it.  Take the schools for example.  The memorization of words, math, geography are still important today. For example, you are in a store and the sign is ripped so you cannot tell what the price is per ounce, gram, pound, etc.  If you know old school math you don’t need a calculator.  You can simply figure it out in your brain.  I began drilling both of my children when they were four in basic math.  It will carry you through life. Everyday car repairs are part old school and part new technology.  This also includes home repairs.  For example, if you live in the country and have a septic system, technology will definitely not cut it.  You need to have a large snake and a auger.  Sometimes it is the simple things that work for repairs. Many of the phone companies have reverted to selling flip phones.  I don’t care for them but they are convenient and easy for the less inclined technology individuals. In the show “Will Trent” he uses a flip phone. Part of the reason is he cannot read but the other part is that it is much easier for him. Of course robot vacuums are handy but they don’t hit the corners.  You still have to use your regular vac. Which do you prefer the old or new school or are you 50/50?
