Personal Coaching

Over the past several years, personal coaching has become very popular.  People use one on one techniques, retreats, or even groups.  Individuals believe they need help and they probably do.  However, the personal coaching is very expensive.  I have listened to a number of videos on Facebook and it appears to me that it may work but it is also somewhat like therapy.  Sometimes individuals have problems that seem unbearable or too difficult to overcome.  We all learned as we were growing up how to cope, but not everyone accepted the lesson.  I know both women and men who completely lack confidence.  They make mistakes and do not trust their judgement. As their errors multiply, their despair steadily increases. No one has led a charmed life.  Even the very rich have problems.  They are simply different that the average person. Learning how to overcome obstacles is not always easy.  When I was growing up you visited your priest or pastor.  Many women in the 1950’s who had learned to handle life without their husbands had great difficulty once they returned home from the war and they took over everything again.  The psychologists, therapists and psychiatrists were all extremely busy.  Unfortunately, many of them prescribed medications which ended up with the women being addicted to a variety of pills. The sanitorium business also increased as they were sent away to be ‘cured.’ Learning how to cope takes time.  A person must realize who they really are, what they want in life and then set the goals to achieve it. As you read this, have you met your goals or are you still working on them? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
