Significant

How frequently do you hear the words that a person is someone’s significant other? Do you believe that person is important to them?  It’s an interesting phrase. Of course, you may wonder just how important their significant other really is.  I know I would. In life, there are events that are occur that are important yet many people don’t look at them with that perspective. An event could be life changing such as a new child, marriage, divorce, a new job, moving, and more.  People tend to shrug off most important events but I think underneath they dwell on them.  They may even have issues but they don’t tell anyone, not even a therapist. For example, a partner be it business or personal passes away.  It is a very difficult situation yet a number of people hide their feelings and move on. If it is business they simply take charge.  They may even be thinking about all the extra profits that are now going into their checkbooks and savings accounts.  I have known many people who have been married for a long time start dating quite quickly after a husband or wife passes away.  I know a man who only waited a few months.  Since his wife has been gone he has been in at least five short term relationships.  I am guessing that the wife he claimed to love all those years was not really someone he actually cared about. I even suspect he cheated on her given what I know about him now. Taking life in stride may benefit some people but when significant events occur they really need to handle everything in an appropriate manner, don’t you agree?
