Hate comes in a variety of forms.  Years ago and even today people are hated because of their skin color.  It’s just skin, yet people are mean and cruel to others.  The world seems full of hate.  There are continual shootings in the United States that should not occur.  There are so many problems in the world it is foolish to carry around such bad feelings.  I saw a video on Facebook that has a very good point.  A  college teacher asked all of her students to brings in potatoes.  She explained that they were going to discuss hate.  The next day every student was in class.  She asked to think about the number of people they hated and bring the corresponding potatoes.  Some people brought in one, two and even three.  She then told them to write the names down of people that they hated.  The students then had to carry the potatoes around with them all the time.  After a while they began to see what a burden it was to continually carry their potatoes.  When they didn’t wish to carry the spuds anymore she pointed out that hate was indeed a burden that was unnecessary to carry in their hearts and brains.  Just as carrying the potatoes became a nuisance, the same was true of carrying it around mentally and emotionally.  There is no rhyme or reason to hate.  I clearly understand bad feelings towards a person who has hurt you or even destroyed your family or a member’s life. But, still it eats away at your soul.  My grandmother said I could NEVER hate and to this day I do not.  There are a few people I dislike intensely but that is as far as it goes.  As children we did not hate.  We liked everyone unless they were unkind to us.  If our families spoke about such topics, we might learn to hate but the world is trying to teach all of us to treat each other with kindness and if you dislike a person, walk away, do not associate with them and avoid them even in the workplace.  How do you feel about this topic?
