Both Ways

Whether people realize it or not, everything works both ways good and bad.  People tend to look at most things in life as going their way.  In an episode of “The Brady Bunch” Jan decided she no longer wanted to share with her brothers and sisters. She had a friend that was an only child and she loved the fact that the girl could do just about anything without sharing.  She aggravated her siblings so much that one day she told them that she wished she was an only child. The other five children agreed and from that point forward she was an only child.  If she was walking up the stairs they moved out of the way. If they were on a call, they promptly hung up.  She thought that this could work both ways.  One day, when Bobby and Cindy were watching a comedy on the TV she sat down on the sofa and began speaking to them.  They both didn’t reply, stood up and walked away. This did not thrill her.  On another day she was about to leave riding her bike to go to the library. She was wearing her sister Marsha’s sweater over her shoulders. As soon as Marsha saw her she took the sweater. Jan started yelling when the mother appeared. Jan wanted to take the sweater and the mother told her no that her decision to be an only child works both ways. The mother asked her if she wished to stop being an only child and Jan said no.  So Marsha took her sweater and said, ” I wasn’t here.” Jan was angry but rode away.  This is also a factor in negotiating in business, court and divorce.  There are always individuals who believe that the end result should always be one hundred percent in their favor.  It is just not true, don’t you agree?
