The Best

We all try to do the best but sometimes it is never enough. Yet we keep trying. We all make mistakes but most peopple do not give up. When we were little we were always told to keep trying. If we finished a task we were told we did a good job and received a great deal of praise. Sometimes we even received a small prize such as an ice cream, a toy, or a trip to the park. It didn’t matter as it made us feel good. Over the years many people stopped trying. They were beaten down too much mentally and emotionally. Then they simply gave up.  They stopped trying to do the best that they could.  Then there are the people who just don’t give up. In spite of the odds they just keep going forward. I know a man whose stepmother lost everything through no fault of her own. It was taken from her by another family member. The stepson continually tells her he has no idea how she can go on. What choice does she have? What choices do any of the people we have read about whose family has taken their home and money and made them penniless and homeless? They just keep doing and trying to do the best that they can. I doubt that is easy but often there are just no other options.  I have read about Dr. Joe Dispenza and his miraculous recovery when hit by an eighteen wheeler. The doctors told him he would never walk again. He refused to accept it. Instead he believed and did the best he could and one year later he literally walked into his doctor’s office.  The doc was amazed.  We all have the power within us to do the best we can. Often people don’t try, don’t believe in themselve, have no self confidence,  and frequently procrastinate so much that it just makes everything worse.  We all have to at least try. Don’t you agree that at least most of us try to do the best that we can? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
