Principles

Is it my imagination or are a large number of the population do not have any principles? There are videos from time to time on Facebook about people who do not have any character or principles.  For example, I saw a video about a woman who was a secretary.  Her boss continually criticized her about her clothes.  He told her she would never amount to anything by the inexpensive clothing she wore to work everyday.  She was nicely dressed, clean and neat.  One day the boss was really making her life miserable when the janitor stopped to clean.  He criticized the manager telling him that he should not treat people that way.  The boss went on to say that he shouldn’t talk as he is a janitor wearing a uniform.  He continued to criticize both people.  Then the janitor accidentally spilled water on the secretary’s desk.  She immediately assisted him in cleaning it up and told the boss to stop criticizing, The boss continued making remarks and then the janitor took off his wig and fake glasses to reveal he was the CEO. Once the boss realized who he was he began backtracking trying to reverse what he said claiming he didn’t mean it, etc.  The CEO calmly told him he was to leave immediately and that the secretary was the type of person he wanted in his company.  Not only that  but she was going to be promoted with a significant increase in pay.  She was elated.  When she went home to tell her husband he wasn’t paying attention.  He told her she would fail and ask for her secretarial job back.  Finally, she realized that not only was she mistreated at work but also in her home.  She told him she could afford to live on her own and moved out instantly.  Sometimes people are so accustomed to abuse that once they become appreciated and realize their value as a person they completely change their lives.  The CEO appreciated her because she did have principles. Over the years I have held various positions.  I always treated everyone in a fair manner and as a result years later if they met my late husband or a member of my family they always wanted to make sure I knew how much they had appreciated me.  Having principles and keeping your word is extremely important, don’t you agree?
