Looksmaxxing

Looksmaxxing is a new term on tic toc. It is apparently for young males only.  It is giving young men tips about personal grooming.  It also suggests that they only eat one meal a day which is not healthy. It seems to be a forum of just exactly how the younger man should look.   The focus has always been on women with only adverts for the men.  Often they didn’t go into any detail regarding grooming.  There have been commercials with male models for various clothing and, of course, cologne.  Smelling good is clearly very important and using the newest product always comes first. Yet, now, the changes are coming for the young men. The looksmaxxing appears to invite men to their own personal self regard.  I thought they already felt that way.  To me this seems to be a new marketing scheme.  After all the companies have sold beauty to women for years which included the newest fashions, make-up, hair styles, and what was considered the correct weight to look their very best.  Now it is simply transferred to the younger man. The possible starving to obtain that right look is just a bad idea as it was for women who frequently ended up with anorexia. Not a wise choice.  It apparently also supports various forms of plastic surgery.  It was encouraged in young women for years until the government actually passed laws which slowed down the process.  Changing your appearance while you are still physically growing could be dangerous.  As you look at the older women who over time became obsessed with their physiques and using surgery to obtain their ideals, they seem to end up looking much worse. Trying to always look your best is one thing, but often many of these suggestions go too far, don’t you agree? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
