Country Life

Many families and individuals have moved from the large cities in the hopes of a more peaceful, less expensive country life.  They are exiting California, New York, many states in New England and the Midwest.  Although they love the lower prices for homes with possible acreage, what they did not realize was that the grocery, the post, shops, repair facilities are no longer five minutes away. They now have to plan their meals and even consider a freezer or canning so they do not go into town more than once a week.  Due to the continuing rising prices of petrol, it is imperative to plan.  Once they are settled , they then need to find electricity and the internet.  Both items have limited choices are are twice the price or more than the city.  Most people when they move do not evaluate areas in a logical manner.  All they see is lower taxes or no state income tax.  Yes that is important but they need to do their research first.  Many people who have moved to Texas and specifically Austin, did make the housing prices rise dramatically.  However, after a year or two they are already leaving again.  Plus, the one thing no one ever considers is the bugs.  Yes there are bugs everywhere but in certain areas, particularly the south and parts of the southwest they not only find people tasty, but there are large quantities of them.  Not to mention they do go into your home. The other issue many newcomers have when they move to a new location is that the country life does not offer many of the delivery services, and none of their favorite restaurants are even remotely close by. So, if you are thinking of moving out of an expensive area, take the time to do all your research.  Have any of the individuals reading my blog made this mistake?
