There is an old saying, ‘Finders keepers, losers weepers. ‘It is not one of my favorites as someone may lose something quite important and never have it returned. You can easily see videos about this all the time on Facebook. A person may walk by a homeless person who is begging. The homeless person may have fallen asleep and there is money in his cup. A person lacking in morals will consider that finders keepers and take it. No matter how you look at it is stealing. When a person finds another person’s wallet, purse, briefcase, or package they should find a way to return it to their rightful owner. There is an episode in the “Brady Bunch” in which Bobby finds a lost wallet. There is a fair amount of money in it. He thinks he can have it when he sees all the cash. However, his parents have a different idea. They made all three boys turn it into the police. Normally, the rule is in most areas that if a lost item is not claimed after thirty days, the person who found the item is now the owner. The boys were quite disappointed. Within about a week, a man knocked on the Brady home door. He thanked Mike and Carol and then had a small reward for each of the boys. He was very grateful as that was his holiday money. In many of the videos on Facebook you will see an individual find something of value and simply keep it. We were all raised to have morals and standards although that seems to be disappearing in today’s world. I wonder. Is it possible that people no longer have a conscious? What do you think?
