If the Shoe Fits

How often do you hear if the shoe fits? Do you even know what it means?  It’s simple.  Something is true when a person says it to another person.  Often people say it about behavior of others. If a person is callous and cold but pretends to be nice, when the real truth emerges another person may say, “If the shoe fits.”  Using other vocabulary for basically stating the truth about another person is quite common. Often a person will behave badly and then deny it. Finally, when another person sees the reality they simply repeat that line.  People tend to lie and hide things from their friends, families, co-workers and even strangers.  When caught in the act it is usualy smarter to tell the truth.  Although people seem to have their own definition of the truth.  Lying like many other things has becomee a way of life. People make choices, often bad ones, and then try to wriggle their way out of them.  The fake stories, imagined incidents and other ways of casting a different slant on something is the new norm.  Look at all the politicians.  Can you even stand their continual statements?  How can you believe anything or even part of what they say?  The fabrication is just the new slant on politics.  I don’t care for it.  As children we may have lied in the hopes of not being punished. However, usually our parents already knew and just worked us over until we broke down and told the truth. Many religions believe that lying is wrong. However, when you watch the evangelists, preachers and now what is referred to as religious coaches, you can’t help but wonder how they stand up there and say what they say while living like millionaires.  I always thought the purpose of a religion was to help others.  Apparently I am wrong. So, what do you think?  If the shoe fits then maybe they should just wear it. The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
