Too Old

There are many individuals who ignore their age even though they are treated poorly because people believe they are too old. Some older people simply give up and let age take over. Others move on as if they are still young.  Due to inflation, families cheating their parents, scams that steal their money, many older people have to return to work. They simply have no option. I am not young yet I have worked since I was eight and would not know how to go about my day without working. I saw a video clip about Jose Silva who began painting, learning how to play the piano, writing numerous books at the age of seventy-eight. I think it is brilliant.  The “senior” crowd seem to like to attend bingo, don’t drive at night, join groups only for their ages, etc.  I spoke to a friend of my daughter’s the other day who was visiting. She is currently living with her mother as she had a medical condition which is now cured. She was talking about making sure her flight landed in the daylight as her mother will not drive in the dark any more. My daughter said that I was simply not that type of driver and expounded on my driving habits. As we age, fighting aching bones, stiffness, arthritus,  the inability to do a few things mostly in fear of falling forces us to change our lifestyles.  Obviously, exercise is a key in keeping up and being able to function, possibly not at forty any more, but without needing a cane or a wheelchair. Many indiiduals due to poor lifestyle choices such as smoking, now have to cope with oxygen tanks to be able to breathe. Life is not easy but we all have to make choices and if we make the right ones it just seems to go more smothly, don’t you agree?
