Privileged

There are many people in the world who considered themselves privileged.  Why?  Possibly they have plenty of money, have a huge ego, have a title, are a famous sports figure or are just conceited.  In any case, they are not. Just because you have made a great deal of money does not qualify you to ignore all the rules that the rest of us have to follow. How many times have you read about a sports figure who has crashed his car, beaten his wife, was in a violent fight and more?  Yet, do they go to jail? Nine out of ten times no. They usually receive a slap on the wrist, a fine, or some type of probabtion. What makes them better than anyone else who might have committed the same crime? In my mind, absolutely nothing. They simply believed they are privileged so that can pretty much do what they want. Children start at an early age primarily because their parents tell them they are privileged. The usual reason is that they are wealthy. One other reason might be that one of their parents is in politics and they have made their children feel that they are privileged.  It shouldn’t work that way but it does. When you see the numerous videos of the rich kids, teens and even college students on Facebook it makes you stop and think. We all should be treated equally and fairly but that does not exist. A person’s ethnicity shouldn’t mean a thing but it does. When I was a child I was discriminated against and called slang names because I am Irish. I didn’t understand why. It doesn’t change how I feel as I am still proud to be from Ireland. So the next time a person acts as if they have rights and your have none feel free to remind them that they are not privileged. We are just normal human beings, don’t you agree? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
