Memories

There are numerous songs about memories.  However, they can also be a mine field. If a person only remembers the negative, they will never have good positive thoughts.  Often when a person passes anything they may have done that was wrong, any and all rude and bad behavior is swept under the rug and they are magically glorified and were always perfect.  It is never true but people do think that way.  Then there are the other individuals who are realistic.  They know who the person was and their behavior.  When they review their own memories they may take something insignificant that worked out reasonably well and turn it into something extremely positive.  When men and women date their memories when the relationship ends are usually vastly different. If one person is really hurt they will blow everything out of proportion in their minds. This is also true in divorce situations.  As I continue to watch the progress of a family divorce, I see that the wife who was once happy has now taken every single thing about her husband and changed it into a miserable horrible situation and he was the worst person ever.  Not only has she twisted everything around but she is admitting freely that she is now working on her next marriage. Where did all the good memories go?  They were posted on Facebook and now they are gone physically, and emotionally. I know that I have have idolized and placed my grandparents on a pedestal once they passed. They will remain there forever in my mind. How do you feel about memories?  Do you enjoy the positive and have you let go of the negative? The Good Gus Series is available online at Kindle, Nook and Waterstones.
