Retrain

Many of the coaches on YouTube and Facebook have short videos about how people should retrain their brain. According to their posts, many people feel inferior or believe they are a failure. Their goal is to convince people to retrain their brains with positivity.  Many individuals try to do well but because deep inside they feel they are losers and will never succeed that they do not.  There is so much data now about our brains and how they work.  Reprogramming our minds from negativity to being positive takes work. It is not an overnight cure.  People with depression have a difficult time changing their thoughts. Everyting is bad, negative, won’t change and they are a failure.  Trying to convince a person with those thoughts to just say no every time they enter their brain is next to impossible. We all have events that have made us sad and sometimes depressed.  Just not on a permanent basis.  Many of the coaches are trying to convince people to just start small and retrain their brains.  It sounds simple but if you have ever known anyone with true depression, it is not easy for them.  They frequently believe there is something wrong with their brains to find a reason that they feel so terrible all the time. The old Nancy Reagan saying, “Just say no” is an easy answer but it is not an overnight cure. When people break up one person always feels sad, alone and depressed.  All the memories flood and they struggle to find a way to stop them. The worst part is that small little things give them reminders which just brings the sadness roaring back. In America everyone believes that whatever you want happens in an instant.  Unfortunately, life does not work that way. We all have good and bad memories and trying to suppress them doesn’t exactly work. The quickest solution is to just retrain your brain and your thought patterns, don’t you agree?
