Gratitude

Most people do not feel gratitude for all the positives in their lives. Why you may ask. It’s simple. They just take everything for granted.  Many of the coaches on Facebook and YouTube remind people to feel gratitude on a consistent daily basis.  Yet how many people actually do feel it?  Saying it is one thing but feeling is quite another matter.  For example, many parts of the world is cold right now.  There is even snow in Ireland.  When  I lived there I was full of gratitude every single night as I had an electric blanket.  Now in the states I appreciate getting into a warm bed every single night.  You might be surprised how cold your feet can be.  Even with socks on during the day, mine tend to be icey. During this difficult weather period,  anyone who has heat and hot water should be thankful.  I had water until five this morning and then by six thirty it was off.  It took two hours to return.  There have been many people who have been without water for several days. Anyone who has a job with a steady income should be happy and full of gratitude.  Not all people are employed at this time. When  I was in the contract engineering business January was the month that people were made redundant. It’s a difficult time mostly due to the weather. When the coaches discuss feeling gratitude they try to invite people to invoke feelings so that they really do appreciate things.  There are so many people who have no food to eat that if your cabinets, panty, refrigerator and even freezer are full you are very fortunate.  I always make extra foods during November and December so that my freezer in my fridge is at capacity.  You never know if you cannot access the roads for groceries.  My late husband and I always stocked up before winter.  We had a room in our basement in a home where we lived in the cold wealther.  If you needed anything, that room was the source when the storms arrived.  So, as you go throughout your day, remember to take a few moments and feel the gratitude for everything you do have even if you don’t have the home of your dreams or a luxury vehicle.  Don’t you agree?
