The Past

Many people never progress personally, financially and even physically as they continue to live in the past.  Letting go of the past is not easy. However, anyone who has had a rough time knows that it is true. It is a continuous topic on both YouTube and Facebook.  The coaches actually give lessons on how to let go of the past. If a person had a rough upbringing they usually cannot let go of it. They resent their parents, relatives, and if they were in foster care just about everyone. Overcoming this type of obstacle takes dedication and perseverance. No one has had an idyllic life but we all want to have one. We have all worked sometimes at terrible jobs. For example, I was a secretary to a manager years ago. When I refused to go out on a date with him while his wife was out of time, I was fired within a few days. A girl I had been friends with told me it took two people to replace me. At first I was in shock but I knew I was doing the right thing so it was easy to overcome. Not all events in life are easy to dismiss and move on. Anyone who has been mistreated by a parent have great difficulty in facing life on a daily basis. I saw a short clip on Facebook about an abusive father to a young girl. He had a robot as a sitter when he wasn’t there. He had destroyed the robot once and might have done it again except this time the robot was smarter.  While he was getting ready to use his belt, she hid the little girl and they both escaped. The point is that real life little girl had a robot as a hero and she would have to grow up trying to learn that not all people are abusive.  There is a video in Ireland about a bully who goes out of her way to hurt a girl whom she thought had the nerve to speak to her boyfriend.  Just as she began hurting her, the victim’s sister walked in. She made her sister go to the car and then in no uncertain terms informed the bully to not only leave her sister alone but any and all others she was hurting. The best part was she went home and complained to her dad who went to the sisters’ house.  Their dad didn’t tolerate his bullying either. The bullies leave lasting impressions on individuals which is why it takes a very long time for them to let go of the past. How do you feel about letting go of all the negative from your past?
