Feeding Dogs

Feeding dogs has become quite expensive.  I used to have two Dobermans.  One became sick and a Vet I knew recommended I make them both  homemade food.  From that point forward I did.  It was a general recipe of cooked rice, broth, and some type of inexpensive meat.  It varied as to what was on sale at the grocery.  Now I am helping take care of my daughter’s dog, Bonne.  It is a mixed breed rescue dog. She was visiting a friend of hers one day when she saw the husband kick the dog. She asked if she could have the dog at that very moment.  Since the husband didn’t like Bonnie very much, they both agreed.  We have since found out that at some point she was shot as the vet found a bullet lodged in her.  She is a very sweet dog and I, of course, have spoiled her with my homemade dog food.  Many other individuals make their own dog food.  It is healthier and much less expensive.  The other day my daughter gave her dry dog food.  It sat in her bowl because I had already ruined her.  I ended up cooking an egg, some chicken gizzards along with rice and she did finally eat the food. Many individuals believe you can feed dogs anything but that is not true.  For example, Bonnie with become ill if she eats tomatoes.  Most individuals fail to realize that dogs cannot eat any type of dairy, chocolate, raisins, grapes, garlic, onions, chives, raw dough of any type, and any sugar free types of products.  Of course, the sugar free are not that good for adults either.  Dogs are generally kind and give affection.  They are always happy to us.  What do you feed your dog?
